TYLER

HOBBS

Iconic and the Museum of Art + Light’s fourth collaboration features the iconic artistry of renowned generative artist Tyler Hobbs. This exclusive series of three auctions offers collectors a rare opportunity to acquire either a single QQL or a curated set of three QQLs, each accompanied by matching artist-stamped prints by Tyler Hobbs.

The release features two outputs created and minted by Hobbs, with the third being minted and hand-selected by Hobbs from the QQL community of parametric artists.

Artist Created and Curated

Auction winners will receive a QQL NFT, a matching framed 30” x 37” artist-stamped, museum-quality print, and an accompanying certificate of authenticity.

Digital + Physical

Three QQL outputs will be available in these auctions, and the successful bidders will receive a matching, artist stamped and framed 30” x 37” museum-quality print that mirrors the corresponding QQL output.

A first-of-its-kind release, Hobbs has created a set of exclusive offerings that are sure to be an iconic addition to any art collection.

”At this point, tens of millions of outputs from the QQL algorithm have been generated, but only a few hundred have become official QQLs. This means that only the very best moments of the algorithm make it in."

About Tyler Hobbs

Tyler Hobbs is a visual artist from Austin, Texas, working with algorithms, plotters, and paint. His work focuses on computational aesthetics, how they are shaped by the biases of modern computer hardware and software, and how they relate to and interact with the natural world around us. By taking a generative approach to art making, his work explores the possibilities of creation at scale and the powers of emergence.

Tyler’s most notable project, Fidenza, is a series of 999 algorithmically generated works comprising one of the most sought-after fine art NFT collections. His drawings, paintings, and digital works have been publicly and privately collected. Tyler has presented four solo exhibitions of work: QQL: Analogs (2023) at Pace Gallery in Manhattan, New York, Mechanical Hand (2023) at Unit in London, UK, Incomplete Control (2021) at Bright Moments Gallery in Manhattan, New York, and Progress (2018) at Galería Dos Topos in León, Mexico. His work has been included in numerous auctions by leading auction houses such as Christie’s, Phillips, and Sotheby’s. Notable public institutions holding his work include the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Tyler holds a BS in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin.

About QQL

Generative art is the practice of creating a system or process that produces artwork. QQL, primarily an algorithm designed by Tyler Hobbs and Indigo Mané in 2022, generates visual art through this concept. The algorithm was meticulously hand-coded, with randomness deliberately incorporated to ensure each run of the system creates a unique output.

While many of the algorithm's results are satisfactory, a select few stand out as exceptional. This is where curation becomes vital, and QQL approaches this in a unique way. Instead of Hobbs and Indigo solely curating the outputs, the entire community and collectors are invited to participate in the process. Over time, collectors will determine which outputs will be included in the final collection of 999 images that constitute the official QQL body of work.

Iconic, in collaboration with AOTM, is proud to offer art collectors an exclusive opportunity to acquire either a single QQL or a curated set of three QQLs by Tyler Hobbs through a series of three auctions.

AOTM will host a set of 48 hour, American style auctions open to all art collectors. The auctions will feature a “dynamic closing" mechanism, which means the auction is extended if a bid is placed during the final moments before the scheduled close.

This adds additional time for other bidders to respond, ensuring a fair chance for all participants to place their final bids.

Please note, because these works will be included in the Museum of Art + Light’s upcoming exhibition, the framed prints will be shipped to the winning bidders at the conclusion of the exhibition.
